Swan St. Ignatius of Loyola dreamt big. He wanted to do great things for the world. But he had many selfish motives. He was vain and proud. Things like these shouldn't discourage us. As we open ourselves to God more, we are led to the deeper, more genuine dreams of our lives. He can work His wonders in us!

June 2, '08- Jesus' words comfort and console us. But they also disturb us sometimes. That's why Pharises do not like Him. Other people drive him away. Let's honestly look at ourselves. What in us tends to turn a blind eye or a deaf ear to God's Word? Is there something in our lives we need to pay attention to?

In God, things are possible

Online_romanceIn this season or rains and rough seas, it's good to look at Jesus--calm amid the storm, commanding everything to quiet down. We who can be cold and shivering can go near to Him. He assures us we will not sink. Lord, teach me to ever trust in You, to draw strength from your constant presence in my life.

June 30, '08- With the crowd pressing around Him, Jesus gives orders to cross the other shore. Then He talks about the realities of following Him. His way isn't easy. Many times it will disrupt our comfortable lives and old patterns. It will ask us to leave familiar shores to cross others to make us better.

June 29, '08- Through the centuries, the Church has been hit by turbulent times and led by some leaders whose lives are far from Holy. Yet she continuous to produce saints and guide many in the path of goodness and truth. Anything from God will always prevail--He keeps His word. Let's find much strength in this.

June 28, '08- The rainshowers of June feel like graces God continues to pour on us. They fall on all, flowing from God's boundless goodness despite who we are. We cannot really give anything back to God that does not come from Him. Lord, teach me to always give thanks, to freely give away what I have. AMen.

June 27, '08- A lepers to be made clean. He goes to the Lord who heals him. We have to be grateful for life's many afflictions, too. They make us long for the Lord and draw us closer to Him. But we must remember: it is the Lord who has longed for us first. He reaches  out His hand to touch us and make us whole.

June 26, '08- We feel restless sometimes. We feel this ache within us, the deep yearning for something unnamed. And we thirst for this something to fill us. In prayer, in the quiet of our hearts, we realize that 'both what we run away from and what we yearn for are found within us.

June 25, '08- We find ourselves in the most trying and unsettling situations. But it's our choice to be defeated or not. David was too small for Goliath. Abraham had to start new life in a land totally unknown to him. The good news is: our lives are not just about us and, in God, things are possible.

The Light

Today we celebrate the life of the one who prepares the way; John the Baptist. He is not the Light--he only leads others to it. John reminds us that our lives are to witness the Light: Jesus. We must use our time and talent, our energies and efforts to show others, especially those lost, the Way to Jesus.

June 21, '08 - Take time to look back at the past week and honestly examine yourself the many things that have preoccupied you: your desk and daily planner, your morning and evenings. How much have you spent for others and the Lord? For your own self-centered pursuits? Honestly think about who or what has ruled your life?

Bring The Light And Don't Let Go

Tree There are many places of darkness today: shattered areas of society and distant spaces of our hearts where hope and life are slowly extinguished.
Think of these dark places. You are called to bring light where it is most needed. And to keep the fire burning within you and ignite it in others.

June 19, '08 - It is not very easy to open up about our needs and accept we are needy. To pray the Our Father is to face the Lord in all humility. We are also in deep need of mercy and forgiveness, of love and wholeness. We are only dependent on God's kindness. We are reminded not  to ever let go of God.

Humbleness

Dock A way to keep ourselves humble is to give ourselves fully and serve quietly. Not to look for recognition or praise, but accept it modestly when it comes. Remember that all this is for God. He is our End, His glory our life's goal. We are merely His servants entrusted with these gifts.
